COMING ATTRACTION –– A NEW AND BEAUTIFUL LOBBY

Last year we enlarged the women’s restroom to cheers from our female patrons.  This year coming attraction is a NEW AND BEAUTIFUL LOBBY!  We plan to double the size of the lobby, add more refreshment counter space, replace and redesign the heating and air conditioning system, upgrade the fire sprinkler system, and yes, men, expand the men’s restroom, too.

Designed from 2005-2007 the Lobby expansion program is in two parts.

Phase one is completed with the construction  of the new women's rest room. This $175,000 project was completed January 2006 and was paid for by community donations and a grant from the Murdock Foundation of Portland OR. The Phase One campaign was headed by Board President Helen Nelson, and all Directors donated to the campaign.

Phase two, currently in the quite stage, will double the size of the lobby's public space and include a more efficient ticket office, larger refreshment counter and an expanded men's rest room. the front of the current lobby will be brought part way out to the garden, and will feature a glass front thereby bringing the interior visually closer to the sidewalk of Electric Avenue.  Phase two also includes a totally new roof-top HVAC system to more effectively and efficiently heat and air condition the facility and also a fire suppression sprinkler system for the auditorium.

The estimated cost is approximately $980,000. Once completed, the larger, lobby space will make the theater more useful for pre, intermission and post event receptions especially in the non-summer months.

The campaign is being led by the BCPA Board of Directors, under the leadership of Director Tom Brown and his campaign committee.  All Directors have given to the campaign.

The theater building is the largest single, purpose structure on Electric Avenue. It is located in the very center of Bigfork and is visually set off by its gardens in front. Without the theater building Bigfork, as it is known today, would not be the same, for the 30,000 theatergoers in the summer provide the foundation, economic support for most all businesses in Bigfork.

Additionally, theater events through the year give an economic boost to what is basically a one-season community. The lobby expansion will provide an entertainment space for the community to use both in association to theater events held in the building and for other receptions.

The estimated cost of this project is $980,000.  Please help us maintain the Bigfork Theater as the premier performing arts theater in the Flathead Valley for generations to come.  For more information, call one of the individuals listed below:
